Performance / Installation
About:
Inspired by the poems of 18th Century Armenian poet Sayat Nova, and by recent waves of immigrants to the U.S., the project evokes the lives and experiences of undocumented immigrants who even though they may have material possessions, they lack the freedom to move across borders without the fear of prosecution.

Description:
Golden Cage Installation -A life size cage (15 Ft in diameter by 7 Ft height) is made with fluorescent wires, PVC tubing and an electric inverter that controls the speed or frequency of the illuminated cilindrical box. The structure, in the dark box of the gallery space, confines the artist at its center allowing visitors to go around it and view his actions.

Golden Cage Performance -Consists of having the artist for a determined period of time writing and reading his own stories about separation, displacement and homeland.

Documentation:
Golden Cage was premiered at Y Gallery, New York City, in September 2010. The exhibition consisted of having the artist present for 7 consecutive days, 3 hours every day. At the end of the show, there were 4 written scrolls that were on display while the artist was not present.
