In collaboration with Anya Lifting, Canonge produced and presented “No X is An X” as part of the closing events at the final exhibition of EXIT ART: EVERY EXiT IS AN ENTRANCE: 30 years of Exit Art. Included in the program Collective Synergy & Performance Actions organized and presented by Grace Exhibition Space, "No X is An X" is a performance evoking the otherness of objects and subjects in relation to spatial constraints and imagined topologies. Partly improvised, partly scripted, the collaborative performance explores familiarity and strangeness, connections and disconnections as well as analogy and rapture. Canonge and Liftig embody the unknown and disclose possible realities through movement, theatrical antics and studied actions.
Description:
“No X is An X” is Canonge’s latest incursion in the collaborative nature of performance art. Working with Liftig allowed the artist to explore the synergy created by two artists when their own methods, form, and delivery come together in the creation of a performance piece.
