ABOUT:
"Deceptive Landscapes" is a site-specific media installation that relates to the genetic manipulation of seeds, the politics of food production, and the effects of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) on the natural landscape of farming.  Inspired by recent trends in eco-friendly products, organic produce, and green marketing campaigns, Deceptive Landscapes, mediates an immersive visual discourse through a site-specific installation that integrates the use of text, video, and sonic technologies.

DESCRIPTION & FUNCTIONALITY:
The project was presented in the New Media Room of Gallery Aferro. The space was transformed into a black box where visitors experienced a large projection, LE lights and sorround sound. On the screen, the manipulated appropriated footage depicting landscapes were enhanced by a real time superimposed projection of stock quotes, ticks, from the Commodities Stock Exchange. The flickering of the deep neon LE lights created a faux farm field while a version of the song "It's a Wonderful Life" played in the background.

DOCUMENTATION:
